22 Feb Creativity Grants Kids a Special Wish
These Aussie kids are helping to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation by designing their own pillowcases featuring their artwork.
Creativity CAN spread happiness around the world. Just look at these three Aussie kids; Noah, Christina and Dara, who have collaborated with Adairs on a special Make-A-Wish project.
Each has used their own artwork to design a pillowcase for the Adairs stores, with all the profits from the pillowcase sales being donated directly back to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
So let’s find out a bit about each of these creative ‘wish kids’ and what the inspiration is behind their designs, as well as their very own wishes.
Dara, 8, ‘Puppy Party’
When puppy loving Dara was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, it was a promise of one day owning her own puppy that helped her get through the years of tough treatment. Her wish was to have the ‘ultimate puppy experience’. Her wish was granted and Dara was able to spend the day with over 23 puppies from a shelter. There was even a cuddle corner, grooming station and puppy themed arts and crafts. Each of the puppies ended up finding their own forever homes on the day too!
It’s no wonder that Dara’s design is inspired by this day and is rightly titled; ‘Puppy Party’.
Noah, 7, ‘Veggie Patch’
Keen gardener Noah, who has Mitochondrial Disease, has always wanted his own veggie patch; so he can treat his mum and dad to a homegrown meal. It’s been his own wish to have his own patch to grow and look after his favourite plants, and to have a space to share with his friends. Noah’s Mum said, “We’ll be able to grow safe foods and hopefully some of these plants will be the first things that go into his feeding tube. It’s such a good sensory place, and he’s going to get such joy seeing everything grow.” Noah has illustrated some of his favourite things from his ‘Veggie Patch’.
Christina, 16, ‘Ocean Reef’
Diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Christina is passionate about nature and animals and in particular learning and seeing them in their natural habitat. Caring deeply for the environment, her ‘Ocean Reef’ painting is inspired by her wish to visit the Ningaloo Reef. Her granted wish will also include glamping, snorkelling and swimming with the turtles of course!
What a beautiful story – can we make all their wishes come true please??!
The range will be available from 21 February and will be sold exclusively at selected Adairs stores and online while stocks last.
