Dandelion celebrates 10th anniversary with the launch of Dandelion Day

Supporting 2000 families a year, Dandelion celebrates tenth anniversary with the launch of Dandelion Day. The fundraiser hopes to raise $30,000 for Dandelion, which has had to reduce operations whilst its waitlist grows because of COVID-19

Dandelion Support Network, a not-for-profit that supports children and families in need in Greater Sydney by arranging the donation, safety checks, and transport of children’s new and preloved clothes and nursery items, is celebrating its tenth anniversary of operation with the launch of a mass fundraiser: Dandelion Day.

Dandelion invites the community to celebrate ten years and more than 12,000 families helped through the launch of the very first Dandelion Day.

During the last two weeks of November, supporters are invited to host a Dandelion Day baby shower at home, in the workplace, with a school, or community group. Participants will come together, in person or virtually, eating delicious food for a small donation.

Event organisers can find everything they need using the Virtual Event Kit. Any financial support or nursery items big or small, preloved or new that are donated will go directly to help families in need throughout Greater Sydney and the Illawarra.

Dandelion hopes to raise at least $30,000 and receive at least 12,000 preloved items during Dandelion Day celebrations, to restock its shelves, decrease its waitlist, and raise awareness of the ongoing need for financial support and preloved donations for families in need.

Gabrielle Humphreys, Operations and Volunteer Manager, says the COVID-19 pandemic created a number of setbacks for Dandelion. “Our waitlists are growing by the day and our shelves for many essential items are close to empty,” she says.

“We encourage organisations big and small, including businesses, schools, and community groups, to get on board with the simple act of hosting a morning tea — in person if we can, or using our comprehensive and easy Virtual Event Kit — and donating to help babies get the best start in life with quality, pre-loved essential items.

Simply register your event here and start inviting your guests!”
